چکیده

We study the dynamical behaviour of the collective field of chaotic systems on small world lattices. Coupled neuronal systems as well as coupled logistic maps are investigated. We observe that significant changes in dynamical properties occur only at a reasonably high strength of nonlocal coupling. Further, spectral features, such as signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), change monotonically with respect to the fraction of random rewiring, i.e. there is no optimal value of the rewiring fraction for which spectral properties are most pronounced. We also observe that for small rewiring, results are similar to those obtained by adding small noise. PACS: 05.45.-a, 05.45.Ra, 02.50.Ey

Inflation Dynamics in a Dutch Disease Economy

Abstract In this paper, the effect of foreign sector macro-variable on inflation dynamics and firms’ pricing behavior has been investigated in the context of a small open economy New Keynesian Phillips Curve. This curve is derived and estimated for a developing oil-exporting economy suffering from Dutch Disease. This version of NKPC is an extension of Leith and Malley’s (2007) small open econom...

Emergence of a Balanced Core through Dynamical Competition in Heterogeneous Neuronal Networks

The balance between excitation and inhibition is crucial for neuronal computation. It is observed that the balanced state of neuronal networks exists in many experiments, yet its underlying mechanism remains to be fully clarified. Theoretical studies of the balanced state mainly focus on the analysis of the homogeneous Erdös-Rényi network. However, neuronal networks have been found to be inhomo...

A Small-world Network Where All Nodes Have the Same Connectivity, with Application to the Dynamics of Boolean Interacting Automata

This paper introduces the equal number of links (ENL) algorithm to generate small-world networks starting from a regular lattice, by randomly rewiring some connections. The approach is similar to the well-known Watts–Strogatz (WS) model, but the present method is different as it leaves the number of connections k of each node unchanged, while the WS algorithm gives rise to a Poisson distributio...

The Small-world Dynamics of Tree Networks and Data Mining in Phyloinformatics

MOTIVATION A noble and ultimate objective of phyloinformatic research is to assemble, synthesize, and explore the evolutionary history of life on earth. Data mining methods for performing these tasks are not yet well developed, but one avenue of research suggests that network connectivity dynamics will play an important role in future methods. Analysis of disordered networks, such as small-worl...

The Small World Network Effect in Software Project Teams

Team cohesion and the dynamics of team formation are important parts of any project, with software projects being no exception. An interesting aspect of team building is the relationships formed between the team members. Because of these relationships, representing software team members as a graph may be a natural way to explore team dynamics. As team members move between projects, these graphs...
